On with the dyeing experiments. I've got a red theme going on here.
Y'all know that Skacel Merino Lace yarn? I had a few skeins of it in my stash in neutral colors, so I decided to use them for dyeing experiments.
First experiment: 2 skeins (about 2600 yards) overdyed with red and a couple of other colors.* This spectacularly bad picture is the result:
It looks a bit better in person, but not much. What you can't really see is that there are light spots where the dye didn't penetrate too well. That's really the worst bit of it. I was experimenting with some small dye packets I got off Ebay. My other dyes do rather better than this.
I think this one will go back into the dyepot again.
Here it is after overdyeing:
It looks really nice in person. The red's a little richer, and instead of light sections, I've got dark sections.
Here it is on a couple of skein holders:
(No dogs were actually traumatized in the taking of this picture.) :)
*You'll notice I keep meticulous records of what I do. Ha. Haha.

I'm betting that your record keeping is as good as mine (ha! Records? We don' need no stinkin' records!) but you have MUCH better skein holders than I...

Beautiful reds, and absolutely lovely skein holders! The reds show up particularly well against a blue merle background ;-)

Cool yarn. I love how they look - like little old ladies ready to sit down and have a cup of coffee and dish all the dirt!
I gotta get dyeing.

Really lovely. Such a nice bright red. And wonderful yarn models, too.

And did they sit there with their muzzles up in the air for you to skein that yarn too? ;) Always nice to have help.

Wow, those skein holders are great. I have a similar model.
But the yarn is just gorgeous. Do you have plans for it, or are you just playing with dying for now?

LOL< I love you decorating the beasties. Mine can't seem to wait for a finished product, they like to play dressup with WIP when I'm not home. Sigh!
BTW, did I see you and Jasper recently? On a sports report no less? Well, maybe Congratulations are in order?

I love the "wearing" alternatives - kind of like those how to tie a scarf books. On the left - we have the single wrap. On the right, we have the double wrap!
Very funny!

Ahhh - the darling woof models. Great pix - and they are so patient :-) I think I need to Hermione and Noah for some lessons... The red is gorgeous - what lace pattern is in the works?
