Found first lines

The caption for the Astronomy Picture of the Day for April 11, 2008 inspired me.  Go look at the picture, then read the poem.  Or vice versa.

 

At first, he couldn't see the Moon
But then, as small and shy
and thin as hope can be,
it came --
the evening's tiny
Mona Lisa smile.
