but not necessarily the way you think. One of my dogs is named Ivan.
And Cammie seems to be feeling a bit better today. We're giving her some doggie aspirin in her food, and that should help her achiness, if not her stomach.
Daily Knitting Report:
Flush with success from two FO's, I started my second lap afghan for the hospice folks. It's in a dark, slightly variegated blue, with a mostly garter stitch pattern. Here's a picture of the first 5 inches, FWIW (it's pretty dark.)
This is a DK weight yarn (Plymouth Encore DK, from Smiley's. While it's a nice yarn, it's going to make a fairly light-weight afghan. I'll continue on for another skein or two and see how it feels. But it's a nice yarn. I have a bag of another color that I think I'll keep and use to make a sweater with. It would be a very nice sweater yarn.
I want more FO's, and I'm frantically rushing around looking for something else to do. Never mind the other projects on the back burners. It doesn't help that I got 2 balls of this yarn at the Yarn Garden last Sunday, to use to make a Christmas scarf:
It's the palest blue, softest alpaca/silk blend you can imagine. It's also surprisingly heavy for its size. That's the alpaca, I guess. But now I have to decide on a scarf pattern. I hate making decisions.
I knitted Swatch 1 (version 1) for the first Master Knitter level this afternoon. Here 'tis:
Yuck. I think I'll do two or three versions of the swatches and pick the best one to send in.
I also got this in the mail today. It's an Ebay purchase.
For someone who really isn't that crazy about knittin socks, I sure get a lot of sock yarn. Go figure.
Hurricane Ivan (now Tropical Storm Ivan) is passing through the area. Ever since we had a pine branch punch through our roof and into our kitchen during an ice storm a few years go, bad weather makes me a little nervous. Not a LOT nervous, mind you. I'm not a total weenie. But... a little nervous. I don't trust pine trees anymore. We've had four in our yard taken down, but there are still several around the house.
So I'm sitting here alone (Dear Robert's working tonight), listening to the wind and the rain and wishing I had somewhere else to go and hang out. The Gwinnett Knitters meeting scheduled for tonight was cancelled because of the weather, so that's out. But I have a new bottle of madeira, and Rowdy Roddy Piper is on AMC in They Live (a movie I have an unaccountable fondness for -- I like it like for some of the same reasons I like The Hidden). War of the Worlds comes on AMC later tonight too. And I've been hankering to watch Cowboy Bebop: the Movie again. My Neighbor Totoro is also a good antidote to the megrims, and there's always Spirited Away. Or even Buffy.
I just hope the power doesn't go out.
Anybody else in Ivan's path, stay safe and dry!
What is it about that movie (They Live!)?? I'm unaccountabily drawn to it as well. Only problem is, I refuse to watch anything on AMC - their commercial breaks drive me nuts! The storm wasn't too bad around here, just a lot of rain. But Jim will spend a lot of time picking up sticks tomorrow because the yard guys didn't show today. Oh well, it will take his mind off his problems.

Have you watched all of the Cowboy Bebops, or just the movie? The movie takes place somewhere in the middle of the series, around episode 25? I believe. The Man Who Lives in the House and I are HUGE fans. I bought him a Spike and Fay wall scroll for his office. I am looking for a complete set of the series for a Christmas gift now....
