My Pinwheel Blanket is done!
This is a great pattern for taking to SnB groups or other spots where it's helpful to have something fairly mindless to work on. I used a ruffled welting pattern for the edge. It gave me a little extra diameter, and made the edge a little more interesting to work. Mine ended up being about 40" across -- lap afghan size. I made it a bit larger, since I don't have any babies to knit for now. I can donate it to the hospice group I knit for.
I really enjoyed knitting with the Encore DK yarn. It 75% acrylic, 25% wool, or something like that. When the yarn arrived at my house last year, I didn't like the colors that much. But when I started knitting it up, it actually looked quite nice in the afghan. Very tweedy! So I'm happy with the project. Thanks, Larissa, for starting up the KAL! (BTW, check the nifty little shrug Larissa made, and check out baby Baz's pictures too. I'm not maternal at all, and even I go all ooh-ahhh over him. :-)
Next project in the queue is a Harry Potter scarf. I'm not a huge HP fan (the stories are fine, I just don't go gaga over them), but I promised Dear Robert I'd make at least one to have in his store for the big release of the next HP book in July.
I also have a Real Serious Hankerin' to start a project with some of the tencel I have in my stash. It is the Summer of Lace, after all. I know I have the Spider Queen languishing on the needles, but I think it would be fun to have a tencel shawl too. It's more summery than wool. I'm undecided what pattern to use, though. There are so many nifty lace patterns out there.
Speaking of Dear Robert, we've both been a bit under the weather lately. He's got a sore throat that won't go away. He went to the doctor today and got some drugs, so hopefully that will knock out whatever he's dealing with. Me, I'm just in pain. My neck and shoulder are driving me nuts. I've started to have wrist pain again, so it's back to sleeping in a brace. (The wrist thing happens to me periodically when I've overused my right hand. I know how to deal with this part.) I'm going to have to break down and go to the doctor myself, I guess. I hate going to the doctor.
I think I'm going out to the SnB at Chocolate' tonight. I need some social interaction. In the meantime, I'm gonna put something warm on my neck and take some ibuprofen and drink some coffee. Mmmmm, caffeine...
Quite lovely Janice! You're putting me to shame with all your beautiful work.
I have a question - I have some very think chenille yarn, actually quite flat. Do you think that would work for a lace shawl? Or maybe I should bring it to the next SnB and let you give me an opinion? It is the Summer of Lace you know!

Fab blankie! I made one of those last year and it was really fun to knit!

Wow! Sweet blankie! Love the border. I keep plugging away at mine, but I have a sneaking feeling it will never, ever end. Not that I'm complaining. It's fun to knit and everyone's results look so great!
