We took a couple of days off and took Jasper to the beach! He had lots of firsts on this trip:
First long ride (about 5 hours) in the car. He did great! He either slept, or stuck his nose out the window, or tried to prop on the armrest between me and Dear Robert.
He got to run on the beach for the first time...
and got to swim in the ocean...
The waves were a little challenging at first, but he adopted an interesting way of handling them:
Just leap over them before they splash into you!
Sniff strange and slightly alarming sea things...
He ran a LOT over a couple of days time. It's good for him.
What did we do? We took it easy when we could.
I'm the camera-wielder (mostly), so there aren't too many pictures of me. Here's one.
Some knitting did occur. Here, the Print 'o the Wave center section of the Oregon Shawl meets actual waves. Sorta.
It's my entry in The Amazing Lace KAL.
I know, you can't see any detail, so you'll have to trust me on this. It's Jade Zephyr. The yarn is... Zephyr. If you've used it before, you know how wonderful it is to work with. If you haven't used it, try it. 'S lovely, I tell ya... lovely. I'm now over half-way through the center panel.Yes, my poor Orenburg shawl in languishing in favor of this beauty. Don't worry -- I'll get back to it. I don't want to merit the title on a mini-banner that I saw in a shop down there:
Looks like a wonderful time! I've wanted to get El&Pearl on a beach to play in "big water" and sand for a long time. Hard to do in Cincinnati! ;)
Does Jasper catch the frisbee out of the air? I can give you info on disc dog clubs in your area if you want.

Oh where did you go? Always on a hunt for beaches that allow dogs! Jasper looks like he had a grand ole time. Love the 1st picture with his tongue hanging out.
Now I'm Jonesing to go to the beach!!!

YAY! Panda and Jasper look like they'd be great friends given the chance. The two really appreciate the joys of the beach. Panda either jumps over or dives under waves too, and if she's coming ashore, she's been known to body surf in.

Wonderful pictures - life's a beach, isn't it? Jasper is a very handsome dog! I am sorry I missed you guys last night at the library. I need a copy of that sign. That would just match my U.F.O. pile ;-) Take care - see you in June! Claudia.

Jasper looks fantastically well groomed, even though he's at the beach! He's very handsome. I'd like to say, if you are the queen of unfinished projects, I'd like to be the princess then. I've got a problem...

Oh I'm so jealous of Jasper. He looks like he had the most amazing time. Hmmm, I wonder if Abner could handle then 18 or 20 hour road trip to the Gulf? I'm sure he could, I doubt we could.

How did you cast on your Oregon Shawl so that the circular needle is also at the bottom?
Thanks.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous pics of Jasper! (OK, maybe I'm just a *little* biased... he does look quite a bit like Indy!)
Love the Zephyr, too. I still have a Fiddlesticks shawl (Flirty Ruffles, I believe) being done in lavender Zephyr, plus a whole cone in a steel grey somewhere.
