I've got a dyeing job to report, and the boiled ass that is my unblocked lace project is acquiring a border, but no pictures yet. But I just had to share this with y'all. It'll be of interest to both hockey players and dog owners.
I like this quote from the link:
Rubber Practice Poopie and official rule book of 9 poop related yard games included with every purchase.
It's been a heckuva busy week, and next week promises more of the same. I guess it's the "last trip before Labor Day, so call the petsitter" thing. I've had days with 10 separate visits, and I've walked as much as 5.5 miles in a day for dog walks. (And am I losing any weight? No-o-o-o-o-o-ooooo-o. Just getting sore joints. Getting old sucks.)
Knitting news: I've got 3 corners and 2 1/2 sides of border done on the Oregon shawl. The end is in sight.
News from the Dog World: I broke down and bought some Lantern Moon single point needles today from Cast-On Cottage. Size 5, in ebony. Four hours later, here's what they looked like:
Some day I'm going to learn to put things UP and not to leave them when Jasper can jump on them. :( They were really nice while they lasted.
Oh, and this video is just brilliant. Actually, it's the mash-up music that's brilliant, but the video is pretty cool.
Stay cool, keep knitting!
Yup, we had a dog fight, or rather, an incident of dog-on-dog aggression. (Bouncer doesn't fight back.) This time someone got hurt. Bouncer is one of the sweetest, gentlest dogs on the planet, and every now and then Jasper just jumps on him. This time took us to the emergency vet for stitches, an overnight stay, and lots of meds.
Jasper's on my shit-list right now.
We took a couple of days off and took Jasper to the beach! He had lots of firsts on this trip:
First long ride (about 5 hours) in the car. He did great! He either slept, or stuck his nose out the window, or tried to prop on the armrest between me and Dear Robert.
He got to run on the beach for the first time...
and got to swim in the ocean...
The waves were a little challenging at first, but he adopted an interesting way of handling them:
Just leap over them before they splash into you!
Sniff strange and slightly alarming sea things...
He ran a LOT over a couple of days time. It's good for him.
What did we do? We took it easy when we could.
I'm the camera-wielder (mostly), so there aren't too many pictures of me. Here's one.
Some knitting did occur. Here, the Print 'o the Wave center section of the Oregon Shawl meets actual waves. Sorta.
It's my entry in The Amazing Lace KAL.
I know, you can't see any detail, so you'll have to trust me on this. It's Jade Zephyr. The yarn is... Zephyr. If you've used it before, you know how wonderful it is to work with. If you haven't used it, try it. 'S lovely, I tell ya... lovely. I'm now over half-way through the center panel.Yes, my poor Orenburg shawl in languishing in favor of this beauty. Don't worry -- I'll get back to it. I don't want to merit the title on a mini-banner that I saw in a shop down there:
Do y'all listen to K9Cast with Tara and Walter? I do. It's a podcast where they talk about dogs, as you might expect from the title. I really enjoy listening to Tara talk about dogs. She seems to have lots of good and accurate information.
Recently they had an episode where they talked about dogs watching tv. Since Jasper is a tv-watching monster, I had to write in and tell them about him. They featured my note on a episode 54! And Jasper's smilin' face is now in their Listener Picture Gallery.
We rock, y'all. :) Well, Jasper does anyway.
And check out the podcast. If you like dogs, you might enjoy it.
And he's even clean, thanks to a little bit of confusion between my Jasper (who was in the hospital) and another Jasper, who was boarding there. Jasper was so excited to get home, he was pawing at the door to get in. He hadn't pooped before he left the vet, but he pooped right after he got home. All I'll say about that is, so far, so good!
He's got meds and a special diet for a week, but if that goes well, he should be ok. He's definitely full of energy today. He's a Wild and Crazy Dog, but that's what we love about him.
Thanks to everyone who sent good wishes for both Jasper and Bouncer. They really mean a lot to us. I'll never meet most of the folks I know in the blogiverse in real life. That doesn't mean I don't consider y'all friends.
Thanks, friends.
So far, so good. He hasn't had any vomiting or diarrhea since early yesterday. They're going to try him on some solid food today to see how he does with that. If that goes well, we may be able to get him home tomorrow.
Keep your good thoughts coming to us -- they're much appreciated!
